Short answer

Test in every room rather than at the window: make a voice call, run a mobile speed test, and repeat on a second network if you have another SIM. Then ask whether the building already has fibre or fixed wireless, and whether the estate allows a dish or an external cable drop.

What to test on site

  • Voice call quality in the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom.
  • Mobile data speed in each room and on the balcony.
  • A second network with another SIM where possible.
  • Whether signal drops when the door is closed.

What to ask

  • Does the building already have a fibre or fixed wireless connection?
  • Which provider do neighbours actually use, and are they satisfied?
  • Does the estate allow a dish or an external cable drop, and at what cost?

If you work from home, treat connectivity as a deal term. Installing a new line commonly costs between ₦60,000 and ₦250,000 depending on the provider and the building.

What to do next

Check this home with CribCheck while you are still there. Record what you see, get a condition score with indicative repair costs, and keep it to compare against other homes.

Before you pay, CribCheck it.
