Short answer

Visit twice: once in the day and once in the evening or on a Sunday. Stand in the bedroom with the windows closed and listen for generators, worship, bars, markets, workshops and traffic, then ask neighbours what changes at night and at weekends.

What to listen for

  • Generators, especially the position of the compound generator relative to bedrooms.
  • Places of worship, event halls and bars within earshot.
  • Markets, motor parks, workshops, welders and sawmills nearby.
  • Traffic on a main road, and horns at a junction or bad patch of road.

How to test it

  • Visit once in the day and once after 7pm.
  • Stand in each bedroom with windows closed, then open, and note the difference.
  • Ask what happens on Friday, Saturday and Sunday specifically.

Noise cannot be photographed, so record it as a written observation with the time and day. CribCheck keeps that note with the rest of your findings, so it is not forgotten when you compare homes.

What to do next

Check this home with CribCheck while you are still there. Record what you see, get a condition score with indicative repair costs, and keep it to compare against other homes.

Before you pay, CribCheck it.
